Dr. Tom is a second generation dentist serving the Greenville area. His father is a retired pediatric dentist who taught Dr. Tom the importance of people-oriented dentistry. After attending Furman University and obtaining his dental degree from the Charleston's Medical University of South Carolina in 1987, he practiced general dentistry with his father for the next year. He then completed 2 additional years of training at Washington University in order to specialize in orthodontics. That additional education -- along with all his years of experience, make Dr. Tom a great choice for anyone considering orthodontic treatment.
As a doctor, he understands all of the biologic intricacies that work together to create your best smile. As a father, he understands just how important it is to give kids every advantage in life -- especially the self-confidence that comes with having a wonderful smile.
For fun, Dr. Tom has played bass guitar since the 7th grade, he loves photography, travels around the world, and builds heirloom-quality furniture in his home woodworking shop.
Both of Dr. Tom's children also attended Furman University:
Trey played Rugby for the Paladins and graduated in 2009 with a B.A. in Business.
Katie's degree (Class of 2011) is in Vocal Performance-- opera & classical-- and she has been devoted to Furman Singers, Chamber Choir, and Chancel Choir.
